we said a pretty unexpected goodbye to our littles

we said a pretty unexpected goodbye to our littlest lady today. 🥺

she developed a lump on her throat that appeared out of nowhere, and then grew very rapidly. she had an appointment to be seen and have it checked/aspirated this afternoon, but this morning she seemed to be in pain for the first time, sleeping in her litter box and eventually her breathing became labored. we moved her appointment up and let her go. she snuggled into her blanket and purred up until her last breath.

a few weeks ago, @otternonni got grey a new @kurandadogbeds bed with the plan to have otto use his old pvc one and grey to have the more sturdy aluminum version. i had originally gotten the pvc bed for emmet, who weighed significantly less than grey, so it was never meant to hold a dog of his weight. well, of course even after the new one arrived, grey still prefers the old bed, and he’s shown his devotion to it even after otto BROKE it this weekend and we took the legs off while we wait for replacement parts to come (thanks to nonni again), because this boy loves HIS kuranda and simply does not want a new one. 🤣
